meeting our needs

so right now i am listening to "She's Only Happy in the Sun" by Ben Harper, fantastic song if you haven't heard it. and i've had some thoughts mulling around in my head so i'd thought i'd go to ye olde blog and spit them out into the world.

do you ever wonder why people do the things they do? i do, all the time. i often question my own behaviours and motivations, and definitely evaluate others'.

two thoughts to put out there: one, we have needs that need to be met somehow by someone. two, i believe we're all broken and insecure people. so, generally speaking, we're all insecure people who have needs that need to be met somehow. (hence why we do the things we do) and as a Christian, my first and best source to have my needs met should be through Christ. but alas, is that always the case....uhhh, no. sadly in my complete and utter foolishness, He isn't and i don't go to Him first. how about you? which needs in your own life are you trying to fill through other people instead of Christ? i know for sure that God would rather have us go to Him first in times of confusion, lonliness, insecurity, brokeness (as well as in those times of thanksgiving, joy, happiness etc.) so why don't we do that more often or all of the time? something to think about for sure.
