sweet times

can i just say that i enjoyed some sweet times this weekend. first it was breakfast on friday morning with my good friend nat. we went to one of my favorite places, the high level diner, and it was just nice to sit with a friend, chat, enjoy each other's company. we then went for a bit of a walk around the university, and it was kind of neat to be on campus again. we tried to take some photos, but my camera died, so we postponed our photo shoot for another time. then on saturday, i went to the symphony under the sky at hawrelak park. the theme for the evening was hollywood classics, so they played music from casablanca, the pink panther, raiders of the lost ark, star wars, breakfast at tiffany's (moon river) & more. moon river would have to be my fav, but the indiana jones tune was quite memorable as well. seriously though, i loved it, and i'm sure i was smiling the entire concert. it was kind of a magical, romantic night i guess. the amphitheatre was packed, and it was actually raining quite hard before the performance (plus the thunder and lightning). i felt bad for the poor souls who were set up on the grass who weren't protected by the rain and wind. most people had umbrellas or blankets because of the weather. when the orchestra finally started, everyone was so focused and the music was so inspiring. sunday was cool, because one of my closest friends shared at church about a recent young adults missions trip to africa. hearing about the trip made me think about my own desire to do short-term missions. it's an exciting thought for me, and i hope to go on one in the next two to three years. later that afternoon i went to see the documentary "mad hot ballroom". it was about students in the new york city public school system who learn how to ballroom dance and then go on to compete against other schools. it was rad and definitely comical. i'd recommend it. later i met up with some friends and we just hung out for the rest of the night. so thanks to all of you who i hung out with over the weekend, it was g for good times and we'll have to have a encore performance soon.
