reflections on camp

so i am back from camp, and to say the least, it was an experience that left a great impression on me. the most wonderful and the most difficult element of being within a close-knit community are the friendships and relationships that form. wonderful, because it is in those relationships that we get a sense of what true fellowship and community is like and is supposed to be. God in His sovereignty brought a bunch of people from different places, backgrounds, maturities, and ages together to live together. these relationships can be so wonderful, but also so incredibly complicated. let's be honest, living at camp for three weeks, a month, a whole summer is like living in a bubble. but sometimes living in a bubble is so refreshing. it's a lot easier sometimes to relate to others, and hopefully you're within the same mindset of serving God and others. it has been my experience that friendships form more quickly and more readily. on the other hand, these relationships can be a lot harder, especially because they're not formed in the 'real world'. saying goodbye to people you may never speak to, or see again is incredibly heartbreaking. as i am reflecting on my time spent at rockridge, i am so thankful for those times spent with people that reflected true fellowship within the body of Christ. i am also sad, for those friendships that were started, but will be enevitably hindered by geographical distance, or lack of motivation to keep in touch. i pray that God would make the transition from camp to civilization manageable, and the friendships that were established fruitful in the real world.
