in comparison
We have time during the morning church service where we have prayer teams up at the front, and while the music is playing etc., people can go up for prayer. Usually the max amount of people is five or so (around one prayer team),...but today I noticed that a couple went up for prayer, and then about ten, maybe even more, other people surrounded them to pray over them. I realized that this was the couple we had been praying for a couple of days now. You see their little girl, who is 4 years old has just been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Their brokeness was evident. And it gave me perspective...how whatever is going on in my life...is nothing compared to what this family is going through. Not because God doesn't care about my life any less. It's my own comparison that I am applying here. A few tears flowed as I witnessed this scene this morning, sensing God's presence even amongst this situation..., acknowledging we sometimes don't look past our own lives or hurts to realize those of others...and knowing that we need to do that way more than we do.
